IDEA's Course Registration Process
Course registration at IDEA is designed to support students in building a personalized pathway that aligns with their interests, goals, and post-graduation plans. The process involves both reflective planning and practical steps to ensure students make thoughtful course selections with support from their families and Mentors.
Pre-Planning
Students should begin by engaging in the following planning activities:
- Stay current in SchooLinks – Ensure your profile, interests, and career exploration activities are up to date
- Understand IDEA's personalized pathway approach – Reflect on how your course choices connect to your developing interests and future goals
- Review course and opportunity offerings – Familiarize yourself with the course descriptions and opportunities available for the upcoming school year
- Collaborate with families and Mentors – Work together to develop a course plan that balances graduation requirements, personal interests, and future aspirations
Preparation
Once planning is complete, students must complete the following:
- Complete the Course Tracking Worksheet – Track your completed credits and identify next steps
IDEA Personalized Pathways - Tracking Worksheet
- Complete the Preference Planner – Map out your intended courses for the upcoming year, ensuring they align with your pathway and requirements

- Map next year's courses in SchooLinks – Enter your planned courses into SchooLinks and update future plans where able.
Practical Registration Steps
- Submit course preference requests via StudentVue – Officially submit your course selections through the StudentVue portal by the designated deadline.
- Courses that are already present in StudentVue are classes students are pre-registered for and should not be removed.
- Students should have a total of 16 courses on their course request list (including pre-registered courses) and be sure that both parts of a class are included (e.g., Algebra 2A and Algebra 2B).
- Each elected course should have at least one (1) and up to four (4) alternates selected as backups.
- Complete Student Interest and Planning Survey – Help us prepare to best serve you and our student body
By following this process thoughtfully and thoroughly, students ensure their course selections support both their immediate academic needs and their long-term goals. See below for more details.
SchooLinks
SchooLinks is a technology platform that supports students’ High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP). SchooLinks provides a single place for students to complete and track every component of the HSBP. This includes helping students discover their interests and strengths, explore colleges and careers, and create an individualized career and academic plan that best reflects their post-diploma goals.
This is a HSBP requirement and should be updated by students each year. It is also a key tool in course planning and supports a smooth submission process in StudentVue.

Student Interest and Planning Survey
To Be Completed by ALL IDEA Students
After submitting your course requests in StudentVue, please complete the survey for your grade level by clicking the link below. This survey helps us understand your interests, goals, and needs so we can build programming and opportunities that support your personalized pathway. You'll be asked about areas of interest, internship preferences, sport participation, cross-campus opportunities at our partner schools, and other activities that will enhance your high school experience. Your responses are essential in helping us create the best possible learning environment tailored to what matters most to you and your peers.
